Kay County Conservation District holds Annual Awards Banquet

The Kay County Conservation District held their Annual Awards Banquet on Tuesday, March 28 at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Newkirk.

The banquet saw many awards handed out including those for the poster and photo contests along with several achievement awards and a meal provided by the Knights of Columbus.

Winners for first place in the poster contest include Hannah Hernandez, EvelynAllen,EllieChrisman,Brooklynne Barton, Addie Schroff, Skylar Hiatt, Gracin Spaich, Isobel Barnard, Ziva Vance, Erza Shelton, Andrew Shelton, and Ian Alvarado.

Of those winners, Skylar Hiatt, Ian Alvarado, and Ellie Chrisman were first place winners in Area II. While Hannah Hernandez, Addie Schroff, Isobel Barnard and Ezra Shelton were second place winners in Area II.

Winners for second place include the following Seraphine Spoons, Parker Moberly, Case Gilliam, Zoey Green, Braden Cheng, Justin Cheng, Jackson Soucek, Naomi Chrisman, Melody Derrick, and Mason Snow.

Third place winners were Blakely Jackson, Charlie Maxwell, Caellum Clark, Elisabeth Allen, Laney Gilliam, Maelee Marshall, Ali Mora, Carden Dobbins, Kimber King and William Smith.

The Grand Champion Poster winner was Skylar Hiatt.

The Reserve Grand Champion Poster winner was Addie Schroff.

State Poster winner was Ian Alvarado first place Division XIII.

The next awards given out were for the photo contest which was divided into two categories.

Leevi Ward received first, second and third place in the Close-up Conservation category, while Mariana Horinek received first, second, and third place in the Agriculture and Conservation Across America category.

Several other awards were presented during the evening, including the following by award title and recipient: Partners in Conservation Award Donna Price Conservation Award - Morton Brothers Conservation Award - Robert Boyer Range Management Award - Dawson Leatherman Governor’s Award - Don Schieber 40 Years of Service as Director - Garold DeWitt Retirement from Board - Warren Frantz
