President Joe Biden has approved Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt's request for additional funding for the state after the February winter storm.

The additional funding will offer aid to counties, municipalities and tribes in all 77 counties throughout Oklahoma. It will also be used for infrastructure repairs and other costs in a response effort to the historical winter storm.

16 counties have also been approved for homeowner, business owner and renter assistance in Canadian, Carter, Cherokee, Comanche, Cotton, Hughes, Jefferson, Le Flore, McIntosh, Oklahoma, Okmulgee, Osage, Pittsburg, Stephens, Tulsa and Wagoner counties.

The original approved request for an emergency declaration that President Biden had approved just over a week ago was limited to help city and state governments, but this additional assistance will provide a more thorough way to help on an individual basis.

Governor Stitt plead his case in Washington D.C. this week for more federal funding. He referred to the recent winter storm as a storm of the century, which it most definitely was.
