The motto “Be the Change” has been fueling conversations and dreams for Alena Jennings, owner of The Doodle Academy. While dreaming and planning this past spring, ideas of color, murals, and opportunities fueled conversations with local artist Kortny Miller aka Red Dirt Rosie. The High School Mural Project is one dream for change that is being put into action this summer here in Ponca City.

This project was designed in hopes to provide students with an educational opportunity to learn about the mural process as well as cover unlawful graffiti. Students were taught about the proper avenues for presenting an idea to building owners, acquiring supplies, and communicating with law enforcement to receive permission from the proper channels.

The mural can be seen nestled between buildings in a small parking area on Cleveland Avenue between 5th and 4th street. This colorful mural has been painted this week by local High school students yearning for artistic opportunities. The design was created by Kortny Miller with the ambition to brighten the area and inspire those who see it.

The Doodle Academy is looking for more places that would like to support young aspiring artists. If you own a building, have an opportunity, or wish to fiscally support these opportunities for change please reach out to The Doodle Academy at 580-309-1582.
