Lamp Post Liquor on LUnion is the longest operating liquor store in Ponca City. The business first opened in 1962 and has been in business for 58 years. The original owner was Wayne Swankee. He ran the business for quite some time until Bob Flood took over and ran the store into the 1990s.

““I bought the store in the 90s and since then we have become known for our cute sayings that we put on our sign in the front of the store. People come from far and wide just to see our sign out front and what we have put on it this time,” said current owner Stan Wheeler.

“We were the first liquor store in town to do both curbside and delivery services and these services have helped our customers more than anything. Sales have gone up. People pull up and honk and our older, longtime customers like the delivery and curbside services because they been with us a very long time and enjoy that this is available to them.”
