Memorial Day is a time when we remember the sacrifice that our brave men and women have made for our country. I consider it a privilege to have served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War era. My assigned area of service was in Germany at a base that is no longer being used by the United States. The four years of service to my country gave me great joy to know that I was blessed to help maintain peace at the location I was assigned. There has been a greater called in my life though. I was called to ministry in 1982 serving as a Deacon at Tonkawa First Baptist Church. I later felt he call to serve as a Bi-Vocational minister in 1985. That call gave me the opportunity to serve in Lamont, Great Bend Kansas, Kildare Baptist, Oswego Kansas, Parsons Kansas, and Burbank First Baptist for the last 15 years. When you discover that you need to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, you are given many opportunities to service in valuable areas of need. God has provided His inspiration in the Bible. God leads you to fields of service that helps you assist others in finding their own personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The work of ministry involves many people. I am blessed to be serving with a very loving and caring group of believers at Burbank, First Baptist. When we need workers, there are faithful volunteers. There is a hymn that I remember from my youth, “We’ll work until Jesus comes.” That’s what true ministry is all about my friends.
