Body

The Ponca City Board of Education met Wednesday afternoon and approved safety protocols involving instruction, health protocols (including face coverings) and activities based on the Oklahoma COVID-19 Alert System.

All students, staff and visitors will be required to wear face coverings in buildings and on buses. However, at the current Yellow Level, frequent face covering breaks will be created that allow for appropriate distancing.

Guidelines for these breaks will be deemed by administration. An example would include taking students outside or to a large area to allow for effective social distancing during the break.

Specifics regarding limiting public events will be determined at the Aug. 10 board meeting.

Superintendent Shelley Arrott will also create a video to explain the protocols.

The Ponca City Public Schools Face Coverings Team Store will be open through Aug. 3 to purchase youth and adult size masks and adult size activity masks or neck gaiters.

PCPS is offering these face coverings at cost to their students, parents and public. The district will be providing one activity mask/neck gaiter to each student free of charge. All PCPS employees will receive two masks free of charge.

To place an online order, select your child’s home site from the drop down menu. Those masks will be packaged and delivered to that school site. Those without a child in the district can have an order delivered to the Administration Building.

Orders can be placed online at https://protect-us.mimecast.com/s/tqcECyPDNDhmgL5iQfd6L?domain=mandrill app.com.
