Amid the COVID-19 pandemic across the United States, United Way of Ponca City has established the COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund dedicated to increasing resilience among the most vulnerable individuals and families.
Melissa Young, executive director of United Way of Ponca City, said this fund will support partner agencies of United Way of Ponca City.
“It will be used to address the needs of those individuals who are experiencing COVID-19-related hardships primarily due to temporary unemployment, lost income or unexpected expenses related and due to COVID-19,” said Young. “We are working closely with our partner agencies throughout Ponca City to provide support, collaboration and resources to ensure continuation of services, as well as respond to needs that may arise as our communities become impacted by the virus.”
United Way partners include the American Red Cross, Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Boy Scouts-Cimarron Council, Child Development Center, Edwin Fair Mental Health Services, Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma, Golden Villa Adult Day Servies, Heartline 211, New Emergency Resource Agency, Northern Oklahoma Youth Services, Peachtree Landing, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program and Survivor Resource Network.
United Way is following guidance from the Center of Disease Control (CDC) regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
“We have implemented the guidance from the CDC to limit gatherings to no more than 10 people in our office at all times to ensure the health and safety of our staff, volunteers, partner agencies and all those with whom we interact,” said Young.
Business operations will continue for the United Way of Ponca City, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Doors are open only to pre-arranged meetings, appointments and guest.
