The Singing Churchwomen of Oklahoma is a volunteer group of professional and non-professional musicians. They are selected by audition tapes or in personal auditions. More than 325 voices strong, the SCW come from Baptist Churches all across the state of Oklahoma. Each SCW is involved in the worship and music ministry of their local church, as well as the collective SCW group. The Churchwomen do free concerts from October – May each year in a different church each month. The group is so large that most months they divide by I-35 into the SCW East and the SCW West groups.
On Saturday, March 7, 2020, Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, Inc. will host its 16th Annual Memorial Bowling Tournament at Ponca Bowl in Ponca City. “The Adult Squads will bowl at 2:00 PM or 6:00 PM,” states Amy Burdick, Hospice of North Central. “Each squad holds 24 teams and this tournament is a great way to come together and not only have fun but to also provide support to the only not-for-profit & community-owned hospice serving Kay County and parts of Grant, Noble and Osage Counties.”
Spring will soon be here and time for camping with the Wheeler Dealers Camping Club. Comprised of members from Ponca City to Bartlesville, members gathered in February for lunch and to discuss campout plans for the year.
The Billings Community Valentine Dinner was held Sunday, Feb. 9 in the Billings Community Building. Close to 100 attendees enjoyed a meal of pork tenderloin, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, salad, homemade rolls and chocolate cake prepared by Lee- Ann and Mark Brown.
