2021 Sundance Film Festival Coming to Circle Cinema - Tulsa OK

TULSA, OKLAHOMA - The nonprofit Sundance Institute today unveiled plans for the sixday 2021 Sundance Film Festival, offered digitally via a custom-designed online platform (festival.sundance.org) alongside drive-ins, independent arthouses, and a network of local community partnerships. Circle Cinema is the official Satellite Screen for the Festival in Tulsa, and will serve as the only venue in several surrounding states. 12 Festival films will screen alongside programming from local directors and artists from Thursday January 28 – Tuesday February 2, 2021.

Local residents invited to take community health needs survey

Local residents can offer their opinions, concerns and insights by taking a community health needs assessment survey, said Jenny Creech, lead coordinator of the TSET Healthy Living Program grant in Kay County.

One Ponca City, Oklahoma resident received a degree during Oklahoma Baptist University’s Winter Commencement Saturday, Nov. 21, inside Raley Chapel’s Potter Auditorium on the OBU campus in Shawnee. The ceremony was divided into three separate events in order to facilitate social distancing.

2020 Festival of Lights

The 2020 Festival of Lights opened the gates on Wednesday evening at Lake Ponca- Park. This year was a little bit different than usual. Visitors stayed in their cars and drove through the park to enjoy the lights. Children were greeted on either side of the car by Santa and Mrs. Claus who handed out gloves and snacks.

The four Republican members of the delegation are calling for the release of $138 billion appropriated for the Paycheck Protection Program that brought millions back to work after they were laid off due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The AMC Classic in Ponca City has closed its door and it is far from the first or even the only theater likely to do so in the face of COVID-19. Large gatherings of people only serve to act as super spreader events for the highly contagious virus and many industries have had to adapt to ensure the health and safety of their patrons.

Unemployment claims decline for the 21st consecutive week

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission (OESC) reports a continued decline in the initial and continued unemployment claims with the continued claims four-week moving average down for the 21st consecutive week. Since last week, continued claims saw a 25% decrease and fell below 50,000 for the first time since the pandemic began.
