DPS extends expiration date for licenses

The Oklahoma Department of Public Safety (DPS) is extending the expiration date of all Class D Driver Licenses, Commercial Driver Licenses (CDL), Oklahoma Identification Cards and Handicap Parking Permits that expired thirty (30) days prior to Governor Stitt’s Executive Order 2020-07, declaring a State of Emergency for the State of Oklahoma.  This extension will be in effect until further notice from the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety.
 

Facilities restrict visitation

Pursuant to Governor Stitt’s Executive Order 2020-06 and President Trump’s declaration of a National Public Health Emergency, the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) is authorizing the following facilities to restrict visitors as they deem necessary to protect those they serve:
Nursing facilities
Assisted living centers
Residential care facilities
Adult day care centers
Intermediate care facilities for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities
Hospitals

Sparklight Opens Wifi

Sparklight Opens WiFi Hotspot to Assist Ponca City During Coronavirus (COVID-19) Crisis
 
March 16, 2020 – Ponca City, OK –  Sparklight today announced that is opening WiFi hotspots across its footprint for public use during the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis in order to keep individuals and communities connected to the online resources they want and need.
 
Sparklight’s WiFi hotspot can be accessed in the Sparklight local office parking lot, located at 303 N. 4th St. in Ponca City.
 

Municipal Court Closed

Body

The Ponca City Municipal Court and Courtroom will be closed through Friday, April 17.  Therefore anyone with a court case, scheduled between March 16 and April 17, should contact the Municipal Court Clerk’s office at 580-767-0382 to obtain their new scheduled court date.
 
In addition, the Ponca City RecPlex will not be scheduling birthday parties through Friday, March 27.

Social Security offices

Body

All local Social Security offices will be closed to the public for in-person service starting Tuesday, March 17, 2020.  This decision protects the population we serve—older Americans and people with underlying medical conditions—and our employees during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.  However, we are still able to provide critical services.

Kay County Health Department

Body

As of March 16, 2020, there are currently eight cases reported in Oklahoma, including one in Kay County.  The Oklahoma State Department of Health continues to work with health care providers and are testing individuals who are recommended for testing by a provider.  The COVID-19 hotline is Monday – Friday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Those with questions regarding COVID-19 are encouraged to call 877-215-8336.
