A second incident involving inappropriate touching has been reported in the Ponca City Public School district.

According to police log, the principal at Washington Elementary contacted police at 12:36 p.m. Thursday to report a four-year-old female student had been inappropriately touched by another student.

Mary Ladd, public information coordinator for Ponca City Schools, said a student at the prekindergarten center at Washington inappropriately touched another student as they were walking in a single-file line going up the stairs from the cafeteria to the playground.

The district issued the following statement: “On Thursday, Dec. 5, a Ponca City Public School student at the Washington Prekindergarten Center inappropriately touched another student walking from the cafeteria to the playground. The single class of prekindergarten students was being supervised by two adult employees. The students involved were instantly taken to the office. The site principal immediately contacted the Ponca City Police Department and reported to DHS as required by Oklahoma State Statute. Parents/Guardians of all parties involved were called to the site and were provided full details by the site principal and the responding police officer,” the statement said.

“As with any incident, swift and immediate actions were taken to protect every student. Safety will continue to be our highest priority.”
