CLOSURES:

ALL Oklahoma schools will be closed the rest of the year.

The Tonkawa Casino, Native Lights and Tonkawa Casino are closed.

The Kaw Nation has closed its casinos at Southwind Tonkawa and Southwind Braman until further notice.

Osage Casino in Ponca City is closed until further notice.

Ponca City Planet Fitness will be closed.

The Ponca City Child Development Center will be closed.

Ponca Tribe Head Start is closed.

The Kay County Courthouse is CLOSED to the public until further notice.

The Kay County Detention Facility lobby is closed to the public.

The Marland Mansion and Estate and the Marland's Grand Home will be closed through Tuesday, March 31.

The Ponca City Gospel Jubilee is temporarily closed.

The front doors are locked at The Ponca City News. Payments can still be made at the drive-thru on the south side of the building or by calling 765-3311.

Eastern Heights Christian Church has cancelled all activities.

The Ponca City Municipal Court and Courtroom will be closed through Friday, April 17.  Therefore anyone with a court case, scheduled between March 16 and April 17, should contact the Municipal Court Clerk’s office at 580-767-0382 to obtain their new scheduled court date.
In addition, the Ponca City RecPlex will not be scheduling birthday parties through Friday, March 27.

All local Social Security offices will be closed to the public for in-person service starting Tuesday, March 17, 2020.  This decision protects the population we serve—older Americans and people with underlying medical conditions—and our employees during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.  However, we are still able to provide critical services.

The Ponca City Country Club Clubhouse is closed to all members. The dining room is available for pick up or take out service ONLY from 4 to 7 p.m.

The Ponca City Senior Center is closed. In addition, the Ponca City Library and Ponca City RecPlex are also closed.

Grace Episcopal Church will be closed until Palm Sunday due to the Coronavirus.

The City of Newkirk has suspended all non-mission essential employees and situations that encourage possible exposure. The City office doors will be locked to avoid exposure and cross contamination to employees and citizens. If you have a bill due please leave them in the drop box in front of City Hall.

The first priority of the Oklahoma Historical Society (OHS) is the health and safety of our patrons, staff, and volunteers. Per Executive Orders 2020-06 and 2020-07 from Governor Kevin Stitt in response to COVID-19, all OHS-sponsored events at all OHS sites and affiliates will be canceled or postponed through April 14. Please be aware that the 2020 Oklahoma History Conference scheduled for April 22–24 at Sequoyah Lodge will also be canceled.
In addition, all OHS museums, historic sites, and affiliates will be closed to the public beginning today, March 17. These facilities plan to reopen on Tuesday, March 31. This includes:

The Standing Bear Museum is closed until further notice.

 

CANCELLATIONS:

The Conoco, ConocoPhillips and Phillips 66 Retirees Spring Fling scheduled for April 18 has been cancelled.

The VFW flea market held on Sunday mornings is cancelled until further notice.

First Baptist Church has cancelled all activities in our facilities through April 5. We will offer an abbreviated live-stream only worship service on Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM. This can be viewed on our website or on Facebook live. Our pastor and youth minister will offer live stream bible studies on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 PM. Members are encouraged to like and follow our Facebook page for the most up to date information.

Sunset Baptist Church will not host any activities or services through the remainder of March. The next worship service is tentatively scheduled for Palm Sunday on April 5.

Albright United Methodist Church has cancelled all activities and services until further notice.

The city-wide Garage Sale scheduled for March 28 and will be rescheduled at a later date.

The Great Day of Service scheduled for March 29 is cancelled.

The RecPlex Easter Egg Hunt scheduled for April 4 is cancelled.

The Mother/Daughter tea scheduled for April 4 at Grace Episcopal Church for girls kindergarten through fifth grade has been postponed.

Ponca City Historic Preservation meeting scheduled for March 26 has been cancelled.

Ponca City monthly fly-in breakfast will NOT be held on April 4.

The VVA monthly meeting for March 19 is cancelled.

The Ponca City Noon Lions Club has cancelled their regularly scheduled meetings of March 18th and March 25th. We expect to resume on April 1st. For more information, please contact club secretary Claire Scott (580) 304-5689 or club president Debbie Woodruff (580) 491-1118.

The Ponca City Aviation Boosters Club dinner meeting scheduled for March 17 is cancelled.

Bridge lessons/games normally held each Friday afternoon in Parish Hall at Grace Episcopal Church have been cancelled until further notice. They will resume as soon as possible, according to Janis Stoner, instructor. Beginners, intermediate and advanced players are all invited to attend the sessions. The Ponca Playhouse is postponing the second weekend of "Bell, Book and Candle." Tickets for the show will be honored when the new dates are announced.

The McCord Senior Center at 115 Mary Road will be open Wednesday as usual. The anniversary free bean luncheon scheduled for this week, however, has been postponed.
