Tommy Neal Ross passed away Oct. 8, 2017, in Ponca City. He was 83 years old. Tommy was born on Jan. 14, 1934, in Ponca City, to his parents, Raymond Ross and Leta Belew Ross.
Tommy graduated from Ponca City High School where he played football and made All-State. Soon after graduation, Tommy married the love of his life, Roberta Ross, on Dec. 23, 1954. Tommy went on to play college football at OU and Cameron University in Lawton.
Tommy worked for Sequoia Oil, Gulf Oil, Cities Services then Conoco. Before and after work, Tommy planted wheat and raised cattle on a farm. He retired in 1995 after 38 years of service. Tommy opened TR’s Used Cars and worked at his business for over 20 years.
He is survived by two children, Thomasine Hendrickson and husband, Charlie, of Ponca City, and Mark Ross and wife, Melissa, of Ponca City; five grandchildren, Ashley Hendrickson of Ponca City, Brett Hendrickson of Manhattan, Kan,, Thomas Hendrickson and wife. Chelsi, of Ponca City, Tanner Hendrickson of Denver, Colo,, Beau and wife. Anna, of Ponca City; five great-grandchildren, Janessa Rainville of Ponca City, Landon and Jordan Hendrickson of Woodward, and Alice and Calder Hendrickson of Ponca City; sisters, Bettie McDaniel of Ponca City, Wanda Daily and husband, Ken, of Tyler, Texas; brother, Billy Ross, of Colombia, Mo.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Roberta Ross; one sister, Mary Jansen; and a brother, Jimmy Ross.
A graveside ceremony for Tommy will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at 10 a.m. at Longwood Cemetery in Ponca City with Chaplain Tom Howard Officiating.
