Tommy Gene Smith passed away on May 15, 2019 at Via Christi Village in Ponca City, OK. Tommy was born on October 30, 1950 in Borger, Texas. His parents were Jesse Smith and Julia Chamberlain Smith. He went to school in Ponca City and later graduated from Blackwell High School. He married Pamela Westberg in 1971. The two had three children together: Jeremy, Marc, and Rachel.
Tommy served 6 years in the National Guard and worked at ConocoPhillips for 37 years. He enjoyed coaching his sons in baseball, soccer, and football when they were growing up. His hobbies included camping and fishing which he enjoyed very much.
In 2009 Tommy married Maria. His wife Maria took great care of him when he became ill and up until his final days on earth.
Tommy is survived by his wife Maria, sons Jeremy Smith, Marc Smith and wife Jessica, daughter Rachel Crisswell and husband Drew whom are all of Ponca City. Brothers Lonnie Smith and wife Nancy of Ponca City, Jess Smith and wife Peggy of Oklahoma City. Grandchildren: Jessie, Ethan, Josh, Marley, Cash, Dylan, Carson, Luke, Mathew, and Carley.
Tommy is preceded in death by his parents Jesse and Julia Smith, brother Ronny, and sister Anna Lou Newton.
A memorial service will be held for Tommy Gene Smith on Saturday May 25, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel at Via Christi Village, 1600 Academy Road, Ponca City, OK 74604.
The family would like to thank Via Christi Village and Humanity Hospice for all the special care Tommy was given over the years and in his final moments.
