Sandra “Sandy” Poulter went home to be with her Lord on Monday, March 4, 2019. Sandra, a longtime resident of Ponca City, had been residing in Chanute, KS for almost four years.
Sandra was born Aug. 21, 1934, to Cecil and Pearle Swabb in Arkansas City, KS. She had 3 older brothers. Most of her childhood was spent in Stroud, OK. She lived in Newkirk, OK, her senior year of high school and graduated from there.
On Dec. 31, 1953, Sandra married C.A. Poulter of Ponca City. Three children were born to this union: Carrie, Chuck, and Pam. Sandy and C.A. were married 52 years before his death the summer of 2006.
Sandra was a homemaker for several years. As her children entered school, she began to work outside of the home. She took computer courses at Pioneer VoTech to further her office skills. Sandra worked at the Ponca City News, in the medical records department at the local hospital, the business office at the Ponca City Country Club, and was a secretary/receptionist for JB Smith Real Estate.
She and C.A. were active members at Eastern Heights Christian Church for many years. After C.A’s passing, Sandy attended Central Baptist Church. She loved learning about the Lord Jesus and how to walk with Him.
Sandy was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She loved music and sang with the Sweet Adelines of Ponca City. She enjoyed reading, knitting, and travelling with C.A. Sandy and C.A. were privileged to travel to Israel in 1985. It was a wonderful time for them.
Survivors include brother, Jim and wife Joann Swabb, Brainerd, MN; daughter, Carrie and husband Darrel Helton, Chanute, KS; son, Chuck Poulter, Ponca City, OK; daughter, Pam and husband Jerry Lee, Ponca City, OK; 9 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and her beloved husband, C.A.
Sandra touched many lives and tried to be an encouragement to everyone. She loved her family and was proud of each one of them. She will be dearly missed.
There will be a private family graveside service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be sent to Central Baptist Church – Building Fund, Ponca City, OK.
