Taking the court at NOC’s Foster-Piper Fieldhouse to work on basketball skills June 4-6 were Ponca City cagers Kinley Brown, Chloe Cunningham, Maddison Duncan, Lily Grace, Aubrei Littlewalker and Anniston Troutman.

The six girls were among 12 area young athletes attending the Northern Oklahoma College Girls’ Basketball Camp for Grades 1-3 held at Tonkawa. NOC Lady Mavs Head Coach Greg Krause, aided by former Lady Mav Haley Curfman, Blackwell; incoming Lady Mav Carlee Murray, Granite; and Carli Sadler, Ripley High School senior, directed the day camp at Tonkawa.

According to Krause, the focus was on introducing basic skills such as dribbling, passing, defensive and varied offensive skills. Lowered goals were used to teach offensive skills.

On the final day, campers demonstrated their skills for their parents. Each girl received a T-shirt, a regulation size basketball and a certificate of completion.

Others attending the camp were Emily Hughes of Blackwell; Lainey Hughey, Kylee Robbins and AJ Waren, Perry; and Ashtin Howard and Grace LaBlue, Tonkawa.
