Paul Hosman passed away on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018 in Ponca City. He was 93 years old. A Celebration of Life Ceremony to celebrate a wonderful man will be held on Friday, Sept. 14, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Woodlands Christian Church in Ponca City. Services are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
Paul was born on April 11, 1925 in Ponca City to William Neal and Viola Rickey Hosman. He attended Ponca City schools. He left high school to join the military but a physical condition kept him from completing his mission. Paul moved to Vancouver, Wash. and worked for Kaiser Shipyards for two years. He worked as a butcher until age 30, and then joined the staff of National Life and Accident Insurance Company in 1960. He was certified by Life Underwriting Training Council and went on to teach the course to new agents. He retired in 1983 after being named to the President’s Council and Top Hat Club and having earned 17 trips throughout the world for his leadership in the insurance industry.
On September 2, 1949, Paul and the former Margaret Louise McDonald were married at First Christian Church in Ponca City. Their union lasted 50 years and two months until her death in 1999. On Feb. 19, 2009 Paul and the former Georgia Anne Washburn, a retired school teacher, were married.
Paul had a great love for his children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them whether they were camping, fishing, playing basketball, football, or he was coaching them. Paul enjoyed fishing, golfing, dancing, playing cards, and casinos. He was involved with Habitat for Humanity and loved to watch OU football, Thunder basketball, and most other sports.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, William and Viola Hosman and first wife, Margaret McDonald Hosman.
Paul is survived by his wife, Anne Hosman, of Ponca City; children, Donald Paul Hosman and wife, Angia, of Robertsdale, Ala.; Susan L. Anderson and husband, Jimmie T. Price, of Ponca City; grandsons, Brian Paul Anderson and wife, Kim, of Ponca City; Matthew Glen Anderson and wife, Kara, of Ponca City; James Paul Hosman and wife, Ildiko, of Pensacola, Fla.; and Johnathan David Hosman and wife, Kendra, of Pensacola, Fla; great-grandchildren, Bryce and Keagan Anderson, of Ponca City; Abby, Carter, and Jackson Anderson, of Ponca City; Khloe and Grayer Hosman, of Pensacola, Fla.; and Kylah, Jordan, and Jansen Hosman of Pensacola, Fla.
