It is with great sorrow that the family of Norval “Dale” Washburn Jr., announces his passing. Dale peacefully passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 14th, 2018 at the age of 77 years.

He was born Aug. 31, 1941 and raised in Ponca City, Okla. to Thelma F. Washburn and Norval Dale Washburn, Sr. After earning his pilot license in the Air Force ROTC at Oklahoma State University, he graduated from the University of Oklahoma. He served in Military Intelligence and was attached to the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a veteran of the Army’s 79th Special Operations and worked in the Immediate Office of the Secretary of Defense, Robert McNamara, during the Kennedy Administration.

Following various assignments in Washington DC, he was employed by the Hennepin County, Minn. Sheriff; Sara Lee Corporation and Northern Natural Gas, where he retired as Vice President of China Businesses. Following his retirement, he continued to work throughout the Far East, Mid-East, South America and Europe. When he returned to the United States, he was employed by the Omaha Airport Authority, John A. Gentleman Mortuaries and Nebraska Methodist Hospital System. He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Rosemary Katherina Washburn, a Methodist Oncologist social worker. He is survived by his second wife, Natallia Davydzenkava-Washburn; brother, Kent Washburn and sister-in-law Jeanne Washburn; children and spouses, Mike and Traci Washburn, of Houston; David and Joanne Washburn, of Dallas; and Tina and JJ McKee, of Denver; step-children, Hleb and Liza; and grandchildren, Megan, Madison, Mackenzie, Emma, Lily, Jonah, Bella Rose, Maddie and Lulu. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Rosemary K. Washburn Cancer Endowment, care of Methodist Hospital, 8511 W. Dodge Road Omaha, NE 68114, in memory of both Rosemary and Dale Washburn. Private family services were held at the Evergreen Memorial Park in Omaha, Neb.
