Larry Rountree, of Ponca City, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, at the age of 58.
Larry was born July 23, 1959, the son of Donald Wayne Rountree Sr. and Mary Rhinehart Fox in Bartlesville. He worked most of his life in the grocery business and recently was the store director at Ponca City Discount Foods.
He grew up in Bartlesville and was a 1977 graduate of Sooner High School and a proud Spartan. He got his start in the grocery business when he was 16 years old at Ray’s Thrifty Wise. He worked in the grocery business for over 40 years and was great at it. He was a people person and he never knew a stranger. He was a bowler, having bowled multiple perfect games and even an 800 series. He loved hunting, fishing, golfing and going to sporting events. He enjoyed watching the OSU Cowboys and Oklahoma City Thunder teams. What he enjoyed most was spending time with family and friends. He was a proud father and grandpa. His grandkids were his whole world. He lived life to the fullest and he will be missed dearly.
Survivors include one daughter, Kelsy Sproul and husband Raymond, of Sedan, Kan.; three grandchildren, Johnny, David and Adeline; his mother, Mary Fox and husband John, of Bartlesville; his father, Donald Wayne Rountree Sr., of Bartlesville; one brother, Donald Rountree Jr., of Lexington; three sisters, Vicki Starr, of Yukon, Julie Fulton and husband Ken, of Bartlesville and Becky Sue Fox, of Gallatin, Tenn. and four nephews and one niece.
The family has suggested memorials to the Chautauqua County 4-H Scholarship Fund or Caney River Cowboy Church and those remembrances may be left in care of Stumpff Funeral Home, 1600 SE Washington Blvd., Bartlesville, OK 74006.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday Jan. 13, at Stumpff Funeral Home, Bartlesville, with Josh Brown, pastor, to officiate. Family and friends may send online condolences at www.stumpff.org.
