Harmony House – A House of Recovery and HopeFree Access

Approximately thirty years ago, a group of Ponca City citizens became concerned about the lack of adequate meeting places for several 12-step self- help groups operating in the community dealing with the problems of drug and alcohol addiction. The old Salvation Army building (located at the corner of 3rd Street and Oklahoma), was purchased and renovated through funds from three sectors: (1) local businesses and individuals (including citizens in recovery), (2) Conoco Inc., and (3) charitable Foundations. Through those generous gifts, Harmony House was created to meet the needs of an ever-increasing recovering population in Ponca City and the surrounding areas.

At this time, there are eight 12-step groups utilizing the Harmony House to provide needed support, guidance and encouragement for persons seeking help to recover from alcoholism, drug addiction and codependency. Within these groups, there are 24 individual group meetings taking place each week at Harmony House where men, women and children find help for life situations which appeared to them at one time hopeless. Through the help of other individuals who have suffered, and recovered from, the very things they are experiencing, they too are afforded the road to recovery and may once more be healthy and restored to their full potential as individuals, to their families as well as their community.

Mission
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for AA membership; we are self-supporting through our own
contributions. AA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.
