HASKELL, Texas — Gideon William Carmichael, 25, a long time resident of Haskell, Texas, passed away Monday, Nov. 20, 2017. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 25, at Anson High School Auditorium, with the Rev. Cody Cochran officiating. The service is under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Haskell.
Gideon was born June 5, 1992, in Stillwater, the son of Beth Mertz and Hewitt Carmichael. He and his family lived in Ponca City, where he attended Ponca City Christian Academy and West Jr. High. They were members of Central Baptist Church in Ponca City.
He was the owner of Carmichael Helicopter Services and loved to fly. He enjoyed snowboarding, wake boarding, kite boarding, hunting, fishing, deep sea fishing and traveling around the country on many hunting expeditions.
He loved The Lord, his family, people, music and being in the roping pen. He loved life, he lived it to the fullest and never said no to any adventure.
He is survived by his parents, Beth and Hewitt Carmichael, of Haskell; two sisters, Claire Rice and husband Caleb, of Abilene, Texas and Lucy Carmichael, of Haskell; brother, Wyatt Carmichael, of Haskell; paternal grandmother, Charlene Carmichael, of Ponca City; maternal grandmother, Sue Mertz, of Ponca City; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins and his special dog, Cliff.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Bill Carmichael and maternal grandfather, Forrest Mertz.
