Billy Joe Kekahbah, age 67, passed away on August 7, 2018 in Colorado Springs, Colo. He lived in Broken Arrow.
Bill was born January 31, 1951 in Ponca City, to Joe Kekahbah and Mary Belle Auld Kekahbah. Following the death of his father in 1955 the family moved to Washunga, where Bill attended grade school through fourth grade. At that time his mother married Paul Gilliam and the family moved to Edmond for one year then to Broken Arrow. Bill attended Broken Arrow High School graduating in 1969. He attended NOC for one year before joining the U. S. Navy.
Upon being discharged from the Navy he began working for Southwestern Bell Telephone, where he retired. At time of his death he was employed by Kaw Gaming Incorporated.
Bill married Debbie Harmon Dec. 15, 1973. Together they had one daughter, Karrie Jo, born in Dec. 1977.
Bill had three granddaughters who were the light of his life, Mary, Hannah, and Grace. He loved to travel and spend time with them. He also loved to work on vehicles and help people with whatever they needed. He never turned down a request for help and will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, wife and daughter.
He is survived by his granddaughters Mary, Hannah, and Grace, son-in-law Dawn Harrison of Newkirk, sister Mary Pat Branch of Ponca City, brother Richard Kekahbah of Broken Arrow, step father Paul Gilliam of Broken Arrow, fiancee
Jamie Ferrell, four nephews and a niece.
Service will be held on August 30th, 1:00 at the Kaw Nation Pow Wow Grounds, 12613 E. Ferguson Ave, Kaw City.
