Billy Dick King, a long-time residence of Ponca City, Oklahoma passed away February 3, 2019 at Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was 72.
Billy was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on June 15, 1946 to Kenneth and Ruth (Fanning) King. He grew up in Ponca City and graduated from Ponca City High School in 1965. After high school he enlisted in the Army. Following his honorable discharge from the military Billy moved back to Ponca City. He got a job with Water Products of Oklahoma in Owasso, Oklahoma.
Billy’s hobbies were hunting, riding four-wheelers and especially fishing. He took his family fishing in Port Aransas, Texas where he placed in several fishing tournaments. After his retirement, he spent his summers with friends in Colorado riding four-wheelers. He was an officer in American Legion in Ralston, where he spent many weekends cooking.
Billy is survived by his children Ian King and wife Amy; Devin Sabolich and husband Scott; grandchildren Andrew Martin, Chris Martin, Elizabeth Martin, Cody King, Lillyanna King, Haley Whiting, Caitlin Sabolich, Caroline Sabolich, Madelyn Sabolich, Lainey Sabolich, Carl Spore, Andrew Spore and Amber Lansdowne; and many great-grandchildren; brothers Jimmy King, wife Bernita and Dale King, wife Sandy; sister, Eva Taylor, husband Virgil; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends
He is preceded in death by his daughter Patricia Spore, brother Wayne King, niece Amy King Young and nephew Jimmy Ted King.
Billy was a very kind and gentle man who will be sorely missed by those that knew and loved him. Per Billy’s wishes, we have opted for an informal celebration of his life. On February 16, 2019, the family will be at Ody’s 3700 Lake Road Ponca City, Oklahoma from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. We are extending an open invitation to all family and friends to please join us.
We would like to thank the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City. The compassion they showed not only Billy, but us during this difficult time was beyond expectation and we will be forever grateful. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary of Oklahoma City.
