Betty Jo Myers Whitfield, passed away Monday, April 23, 2018, in Ponca City. She was 87.
Betty was born on May 11, 1930, in Perry, the daughter of George H. and Clara Pagel. She married Charles “Bob” Myers on Sept. 17, 1950. Following his death, she married James Whitfield on March 15, 2008, in Eureka Springs, Ark.
She was a member of Ranch Drive Baptist Church in Ponca City. She enjoyed fishing, ceramics, collecting rocks and traveling. She was also an avid bowler.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Bob Myers.
She is survived by her husband, James Whitfield, of Ponca City; her close friends, Bob and Elaine Costello, of Ponca City; step-daughter, Naomi and husband Mike Melichar, of Spring, Texas; step-son, William Whitfield, of Bartlesville; step-granddaughter, Andrea Burris; step-grandson, Jared Padgett; three step-great grandchildren, Anthony, Shayla and Xavier Burris; sister, Shirley Klinger, of Marland; nephews, Gary and wife Susie Klinger, of Marland and Rick and wife Terry Klinger, of Newkirk.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, at Ranch Drive Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Friends and loved ones may pay their respects at Trout Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 24, from 5-8 p.m. and a visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 25, from 6-8 p.m. at Trout Funeral Home.
