Sarah Willie Sissel of Ponca City and long time resident of Enid passed away Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, at Sterling House in Ponca City. She was 88.
The funeral for Sarah will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, in the chapel of Trout Funeral Home and Crematory with the Revs. Steve Lance and Charley Hudspeth, officiating. Burial will then follow at Fairfax Cemetery in Fairfax. The family will greet friends at Trout Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
Sarah was born March 9, 1921, to John James and Molena Caldrona Waldroop Rollins in Frey, Okla. She graduated from Fairfax High School in 1940.
Sarah married Paul T. Sissel on Oct. 1, 1939, in Fairfax.
She is survived by her children, Dallas Paul Sissel and wife Carol of Shawnee, Kan., James Franklin Sissel and wife Doris of Victoria, Kan., Howard Eugene Sissel and wife Ruth Ann of Ponca City, Raymond Dale Sissel of Lefors, Texas, and Sharon Paulette Scruggs of Drummond; one brother, Freelin "Curley" Rollins of Winfield, Kan.; nine grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Paul T. Sissel; her parents; one daughter, Cheryl Renae Sissel; two sisters, Lucy and Mary; and one brother, Lonnie "Bud" Rollins.
Casket bearers will be her grandsons, Brock Sissel, Brent Sissel, Steve Messick, Kent Merrill, Kevin Corr, and Jeff Neely.
Honorary casket bearers will be her granddaughters, Valerie Souders, Debra Messick, Leslie Sissel, Daphanie Banks, Ginger Merrill, Wendy Corr, Pam Neely and Paula Chrisman.
