Allene Berline of Blackwell died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, in Integris Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City at the age of 86 years.
Allene Berline was born Jan. 31, 1924, in Deer Creek to Albert Leo and Hazel D. Morgan Stoner. As a young girl she grew up on an oil lease near Tonkawa. She attended Blackwell schools graduating from Blackwell High School in 1942.
Following her education she began working for the Hermes Insurance Agency in Blackwell. She married Robert Lee Berline on Aug. 25, 1945, Wellington, Kan., and they settled on a farm west of Blackwell. She later began working for the gas company and in 1960 she began working as a bookkeeper for First National Bank in Blackwell. After 30 years of service she retired as an assistant cashier in 1990.
Following retirement they enjoyed traveling to various parts of the country. She was a member of First Christian Church and Harmony Sunday School Class in Blackwell. She also held membership in Order of Eastern Star. She also enjoyed visiting with friends, dancing and family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Berline of Blackwell; two daughters, Alicia Berline Pontius and husband Eldon of Cadiz, Ky., and Desma Berline Logsdon and husband David of Broken Arrow; and three grandchildren, Heath Downs and wife Stephanie of Seattle, Wash., Hilary Penrod and husband Nic of Bixby, and Hannah Downs of Stillwater.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Helen Moore; and a brother, Bud Stoner.
The funeral is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, in First Christian Church in Blackwell with the Rev. Jeff Koch of First Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in Blackwell Cemetery.
Honorary casket bearers will be David Logsdon, Leonard Berline, Barry Patton, LeRoy Farabough, John Smith, Les Cartwright, Don Bevington and Don Merhoff.
Casket bearers will be Bruce Dale, Doug Dale, Dennis Pearce, Eldon Pontius, Nic Penrod and Heath Downs.
A memorial has been established in her honor with American Heart Association, c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Okla. 74631.
