Man Sentenced to DOC In Delivery of Drugs Case

NEWKIRK — A man arrested by Tonkawa police with the aid of the social networking Web site Myspace.com., has been sentenced to the Oklahoma Department of Corrections.

According to the affidavit, Tonkawa police say that they arrested Fransisco Ismael Rodriguez, 20, after he attempted to deliver drugs to undercover officers.

He was arrested at Pecan Creek Lodge, 1501 East North Avenue on July 28.

According to the police affidavit, Rodriguez was arrested after he agreed to acquire and then deliver marijuana to room number 30.

A Tonkawa police officer was in control of a Myspace account and was initially contacted via e-mail by Rodriguez.

The officer asked Rodriguez if he could acquire and deliver drugs to which Rodriguez allegedly stated he could do so.

A time was set up and officers arrived at the apartments.

A surveillance team consisting of Ponca City police officers had constant visual contact of the room.

Rodriguez arrived and Tonkawa officers placed him under arrest.

Officers state that Rodriguez attempted to get away, scratching Payne numerous times and causing abrasions.

Rodriguez was charged with a felony count of violation of Oklahoma Statute via computer and two felony counts of assault and battery upon a police officer.

On June 29 Rodriguez pleaded guilty to a felony drug charge.

On Nov. 16, he was sentenced to five years in DOC on each count.

Rodriguez was also sentenced to 10 years in DOC on a felony charge of unlawful possession of controlled dangerous substance marijuana with intent to distribute stemming from a 2008 arrest by an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper.
