4-H'ers Compete in Tonkawa

NEWKIRK — Members of the Kay County 4-H clubs conducted County Speeches and Demos contests at Tonkawa High School recently.

Special awards will be given at the annual Achievement Banquet for winners of the Peanut Award (9-10 years only), Junior Breads (11-12 years only) and Senior Breads (15 years or older only), and Dairy Foods Award (13-14 years only).

Results were as follows:

Beginning division (9-10): Individual Talk first place winner was Karsten Blevins, Kay County Mounties; second place winner was Austin Major, OK Okies; third place winner was Michael Horinek, Newkirk Go-Getters.

Individual Illustrated Talk winners were first place Michael Horinek, Newkirk Go-Getters and second place winner was Karsten Blevins, Kay County Mounties, Individual Demonstration winners were first place, Madison Smith, Kay County Mounties and second place winner was Michael Horinek, Newkirk Go-Gettes.

Individual Impromptu Speech winner was first place Karsten Blevins, Kay County Mounties. Individual 4-H Motto, Pledge, Club Colors presentation first place winner was Karsten Blevins, Kay County Mounties.

Junior division (11-12): Individual Illustrated Talk winners were first place, Marc Major, OK Okies; second place was Carissa Blevins, Kay County Mounties; third place was Johanthan Minick, Kay County Mounties.

Individual Demonstration winners were: first place, Carissa Blevins, Kay County Mounties and second place winner was Megan Holman, OK Okies. Individual Prepared Speech winners were first place Mesa Webb, OK Okies and second place winner was Carissa Blevins, Kay County Mounties.

Team Demonstration winners were first Kristen Simunek and Brooke Bergman, OK Okies and second place winners were Marc and Austin Major, OK Okies. Impromptu Speech winner was Carissa Blevins, Kay County Mounties.

Power Point Presentation winner was Mesa Webb, OK Okies.

Intermediate division (13-14): Individual Illustrated Talk winners were first place, Lerin Thomas, Newkirk Go-Getters and second place winner Matthew Horinek, Newkirk Go-Getters.

Individual Demonstration winners were first place Matthew Horinek, Newkirk Go-Getters and second place winner was Rachael Smith, Kay County Mounties.

Team Power Point Presentation winner was Matthew and Michael Horinek, Newkirk Go-Getter. Impromptu Speech first place winner was Lerin Thomas, Newkirk Go-Getters.

Senior division (15 and over): Individual Demonstration first place winner was Kara Holman, OK Okies.

Cloverbud members (5-8): Representing OK Okies was Blake Bergman, McCabe Webb and Jake Helm. Representing Kay County Mounties was Courtney Minick, Wyatt Minick. Representing Newkirk Go-Getters was Anthony Horinek.
