A TWO-VEHICLE accident at 9:32 p.m. Friday resulted in a one-hour closure of East Hartford Avenue from Seventh Street to Jane Street as emergency personnel sorted out what happened, checked on victims and cleared the wreckage. According to Ponca City police, a woman and her two young daughters were traveling eastbound on Hartford in their silver Suzuki SUV when it was struck by a southbound, small white passenger car driven by a man at the intersection with Seventh Street. After the initial collision the SUV then went over the south curb and struck a fire hydrant, tearing it out of the concrete sidewalk. The passenger car jumped the curb and demolished a school traffic warning lightpole before coming to rest just short of a nearby residence. Fortunately, though shaken, neither driver nor the two young passengers reported serious injury. Air bags were deployed in both vehicles. (News Photo by Rolf Clements)
