A PIPELINE WORK area is shown under construction today at the southeast corner of North Ranch Drive at West Highland Avenue. The site is being prepared for local work on the 2,148 mile Keystone Pipeline project by TransCanada Corporation which will transport crude oil from Hardisty, Alberta, Canada to U.S. markets at Wood River and Patoka, Ill. and locally to Cushing. TransCanada is the sole owner after acquiring ConocoPhillips' remaining interests in June 2009 for total consideration of $750 million. The 36-inch diameter pipes used in the project will be 80-feet long and weigh close to 75,000 pounds each.
