City, Main Street Honor Couple For Special Work on The Poncan |
|
The Poncan Theatre will be featured on the News Channel 4 program "Is This a Great State or What?" at 6:30 p.m. Monday. The episode will air again during the morning edition and at noon on Tuesday.
The program could also be picked up and aired sometime during the week on OETA. The video will also be available online at www.kfor.com/community/greatstate.
The episode shows the construction of the new office space in The Poncan Theatre located in the area originally used for a candy store when The Poncan opened in 1927. Charles Hall, son of Don and Frances Hall, managers of the Poncan from 1946 through 1977, is featured in the report that details his labor of love in memory of his parents and his childhood spent in The Poncan.
Hall completed his portion of the construction and returned to his home in Austin last Tuesday after a 51-day stay in Ponca City. While here, Hall worked 10 to 12 hours each day. He and his wife Jeannie also paid for the entire renovation. She joined him and helped with the project for two weeks.
The Halls were honored by the City of Ponca City with Charles and Jeannie Hall Day declared Feb. 22. In addition Charles was also honored as a February Volunteer of the Month by the Ponca City Main Street program.
The Halls plan to return to Ponca City for the ribbon cutting and grand opening of the new offices, which will be scheduled after the project is completed.
