Five Girl Staters Begin Activities

Five Ponca City girls have been chosen as delegates to Girls State, which meets in Norman today through May 30.

Five alternates also were chosen.

The delegates are Kelsey Hays, Kristen Brunkow, Anna Bookout, Kathryn Lee and Maggie Bowker. Alternates are Abby Taber, Emily Berwalt, Madalyn Snow, Megan Harris and Katie Tracy.

Delegates and alternates were chosen by the American Legion Auxiliary, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the American Association of University Women.

Kelsey Hayes was on the superintendent's honor roll, received an academic letter, was a member of Student Council, National Honor Society and is captain of the Po-Hi Steppers. She is a Link Crew leader and a dance instructor at Inciardi School of Dance.

Kristen Brunkow was on the superintendent's honor roll, received an academic letter, was a member of the Renaissance Academic Leadership Team, varsity cheer squad, National Honor Society, Youth Traffic Court Defense Attorney and on the track team where she holds the school high jump record. She is also the assistant cheerleading coach at First Lutheran School.

Alternate Madalyn Snow will attend in Anna Bookout's place. Snow's honors include being on the principal's honor roll and winning an academic award this year. She was a Student Council representative, a freshman mentor, a member of DECA, the soccer team and Po-Hi Steppers. She has participated in many community service activities.

Kathryn Lee was a member of the National Honor Society, received an academic letter, is in Who's Who Among American High School Students, a member of the Po-Hi Steppers, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Youth Traffic Court Clerk, was in the school play and Student Council. She has been active in several community service projects.

Maggie Bowker has been on the superintendent's honor roll, has received an academic letter, is a member of Student Council, the Link Crew, DECA, National Honor Society and is captain of the cheerleading squad. She was a junior homecoming attendant and outstanding sophomore girl.
