Cell Phones, Fuel, Etc.

By LOUISE ABERCROMBIE News Staff Writer

Just found a solution to the high cost of fuel. Invent a car that hooks to cell phones and wind power from the casual chit chats will do the rest.

Have you noticed how some folks can't travel unless they are talking or listening on their cells? This is true of shoppers these days too. Seems some folk have such a inferior complex they don't want people to think they have to go shopping alone so they gab on the phone to look important.

Now I can understand why menfolk take the phone shopping — so they can check with their wives or girlfriends to be sure they are bringing the right brand product home. Or basically where to find this or that item.

Another modern day curse besides the cell phone, is the computer. This electronic device creates a whole new line of ailments.

Remember when smoke signals from a fire were used to send messages? The only damage done to the body was fanning the flames with a leather hide and — inhaling.

The computer leads to lots of ailments, carpal tunnel syndrome, back and neck aches and on and on.

It is doubtful if the cavemen and women had to put up with carpal tunnel ailment caused by keyboard punching. Although, being a caveperson was not without its health hazards.

Just visualize cavemen's aching backs from sleeping on rocks. Or trying to stand up straight or walk on broken down arches from running all day over jagged brush looking for dinner prey.

Meanwhile Mama cave dweller was creating fur fashions out of skins, keeping the fire burning, and waiting to fix the dinner entree, whatever it might be from the day's hunt.

No calling hubby to pick up KFC dinners on his trek back home. Good news though — after the "catch of the day" meal — there were no dishes to do, just throw the shish-ke-bab sticks away.

Society has come a long way since the cave era, but things remain much the same. Men and women are both in the work force and dinner can be caught by using the cell phone in a food order.

With the high cost of fuel — history may repeat itself — running on foot to catch dinner — at the barbecue pit.
