Heavy Support Shown For Northern Flyer Here

PERRY — The Northern Flyer Alliance Inc. meeting in Perry Thursday drew attendees from Guthrie, Enid, Cleo Springs, Perry, Ponca City, Stillwater, Tonkawa, Blackwell and Wichita.

The coalition is composed of representatives from Oklahoma and Kansas interested in promoting rail service from Fort Worth to Kansas City, with a stop in Gainesville, Texas.

Other stops are Ardmore, Pauls Valley, Purcell, Norman, Oklahoma City, Edmond, Guthrie, Ponca City, and in Kansas, Arkansas City, Wichita, Newton, Strong City, Emporia, Topeka and Kansas City.

Letters of support from the Kansas Department of Transportation and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation were presented.

Linda Sparks, Ponca City, was a hostess for the luncheon meeting.

The Ponca City delegation included Sen. David Myers, Chamber Chairman Steve Crank, Chairman-elect Sue Lunsford, Main Street Director Jayne Detton, Cimarron Transit route supervisor. Dr. Roger Stacy, Tonkawa, also attended the event at Heritage Center.

Officers of the Alliance are Deborah Fischer Stout, president; Mark Corriston, vice president-Kansas; Evan Stair, vice president-Oklahoma; Dean Saffle, treasurer; Don Sherman, secretary; Autumn Heithaus, community action diector- Kansas; Gary Lanman community action director - Oklahoma, and Charles Allen - community action director - Texas.
