County's Unemployment Trends Rank Favorably to Other Rates |

Kay County unemployment trends are following the regional county trend with lower unemployment rates. During January the rate was 4.1 percent according to the latest Oklahoma Employment Security Commission figures.
The state's unemployment rate is listed at 4.2 percent. Other area state rankings for January show, Arkansas, 6.4 percent; Kansas, 4.3; Louisiana, 4.6; Missouri, 6; New Mexico, 3.2, and Texas, 4.6.
Kay County ranks 39th out of the 77 counties in unemployment. The labor force is listed at 22,380, with 21,460 employed and 950 unemployed.
The unemployment rate in Kay County has improved from 5.6 percent in January 2007.
Other area counties and unemployment rates are Grant, 3.2 compared to 4.2 a year ago; Pawnee, 4.1 percent, compared to 5.5; Noble, 3.4 to 4.3; Osage 4.4 compared to 4.9; Payne, 3.6 compared to 3.8; Garfield, 3 percent compared to 3.4; Washington, 3.5 compared to 4 percent.
