NEWKIRK — The super six have been narrowed down to the final four in the race for the Kay County Commissioner District No. 3 seat.

In the Republican race, Tyson Rowe received 567 votes while David Chandler gained 489 votes and Dennis Bonewell 419 votes.

Rowe and Chandler will face each other in the Aug. 24 runoff.

Rowe said last night he is happy to move to the next round.

"I want to thank the voters and look forward to their continued support," Rowe said.

Chandler said today he is looking forward to the next race.

"There will be a choice for the voters to make," he said.

"I have my running shoes on, and I'm ready to go."

In the Democratic race, Vicky Purdy received 384 votes, Pete Lively, 283 votes and Buddy May, 237 votes.

Purdy and Lively will face off in the Aug. 24 runoff.

Purdy said this morning that she is real happy with the results.

Lively said he is ecstatic and happy with the result. He added that he and Purdy are close friends but that things will be fine.
