Boy Taken to Enid After Having Weapon at School

A 12-year-old student was arrested Thursday afternoon at West Middle School on a complaint of possession of a weapon at school.

The weapon, a loaded hand-held air pistol, was taken by administrators after they were alerted by a student that the boy was showing off the gun.

The student with the weapon was confronted by school personnel and the weapon was recovered without any type of an altercation.

School Resource Officer Bob Pruett took the boy into custody and took possession of the realistic-looking air pistol.

The juvenile was transported to the Ponca City Police Department.

The Office of Juvenile Affairs was contacted and permission to detain was granted by a District Judge. A transport officer for the Kay County Sheriff's transported the boy to the Juvenile Detention Facility in Enid.
