Talented Hands

TALENTED HANDS crafted beautiful quilts for Kay County "Child Share." Members of Pioneer Area Quilt Guild show some of the more than 60 quilts made for sharing with area children entering foster care. The group presented piles of handmade quilts in a rainbow of colors and a myriad of designs during their Feb. 1 regular meeting. Standing at left, Brenda Berman, chairman of "Stitch Group" committee is joined by Becky Hightower, coordinator of Child Share, and Elaine Hughes, chairman of the workshop and Child Share quilt project. Child Share is an ecumenical non-profit program that seeks to provide physical, emotional and spiritual support for foster families and their children. When a child enters foster care for the first time, he or she receives a welcome basket that contains many items including a quilt or blanket. These children range in age from infancy to 18 years. They can keep these blankets ó one of their few possessions as they start life with a new family. (News Photo by Carey Head)
