Melinda Kay Goddard (Barron, Thomas) passed away peacefully on January 30, 2024, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 81. Melinda was born on December 10, 1942, in Ponca City and was a graduate of Ponca City High School.

While living in Ponca City, Melinda enjoyed assisting people with contact lens and/or helping them select frames for new prescription eyeglasses. She was a volunteer for Blue Bird and Camp Fire groups, liked her earlymorning walks around the high school track and taught swimming lessons at Wentz and other city pools. Other personal interest included reading, cross-stitch needle work and China painting with the Pioneer Porcelain Artist.

Melinda was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Ietta; her husband Ted Barron; her son, Teddy; her daughter, Teresa; and her brother, Richard. She is survived by her daughter, Tracy Elrod of Ponca City; daughter- in-law, Debbie Thomas of Ponca City; sister, Adelia of Tulsa, Oklahoma and sisterin- law Lynne of Overland Park, Kansas; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

A family graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Longwood Cemetery; followed by a reception at St. Mary’s Catholic Church from 1:00 to 3:00 pm for friends and family to visit and celebrate Melinda’s life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to a favorite charity.
