Ponca City’s Wheatheart Nutrition Project is one of several Kay County locations providing hot lunches for area citizens age 60 and over. Located at Ponca City Senior Center, 319 West Grand, Wheatheart meals are served Monday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to noon.
A sack lunch meal is distributed by Wheatheart at Thursday’s meal. To receive a sack lunch each Thursday, participants must eat with Wheatheart on Thursdays. Friday meals are coordinated through the City of Ponca City and reservations must be made by calling 763-8051.
Monday, Feb. 20: CLOSED in observance of Presidents’ Day.
Tuesday, Feb. 21: Fajita chicken, Mexican corn, steamed broccoli, cornmeal roll with margarine and brownie for dessert.
Wednesday, Feb. 22: Dinner frank on bun with mustard, sweet-n-sauerkraut, mixed vegetables and ice cream for dessert.
Thursday, Feb. 23: Goldwater beans, oven-fried potatoes, cornbread with margarine and strawberry sling for dessert. (Sack lunch of pimiento cheese, crackers, tomato half or tomato relish, fresh fruit and a cookie will be given to those eating a hot lunch at Wheatheart on Thursday.)
Friday, Feb. 24: Covered dish dinner. Chicken and desserts provided. Call the Senior Center for reservations, 763-8051.
