The deadline for the Sunday edition for stories with pictures is 5 p.m. Wednesday, but stories and pictures may be submitted earlier. Stories for the daily edition should be submitted at least two days prior to the date of publication. In order to keep stories current, The News prefers to have stories submitted within two weeks of the event.

If the photo is a snapshot rather than a professional photograph, it may not be suitable. We cannot reproduce photographs from a newspaper or magazine. Prints or negatives only, please. Either color or black and white photos are acceptable. Soft focus pictures do not reproduce well in a newspaper. Almost any size photograph is acceptable since they will be enlarged or reduced as needed. The only exception is some snapshots. Polaroid's are not acceptable. Check with the Lifestyles Editor.

There is no charge for anniversary pictures and pictures are returned  if you supply a stamped, self-addressed envelope. A return name and address should accompany each photograph. "Sticky" notes are preferred as they will adhere to the picture while not damaging it. The News cannot be responsible for the spelling of names if information submitted is handwritten rather than typed.

Forms are preferred; however, the Lifestyles Editor is available to write the story from facts you provide (Just give her the "who, what, when, and where"). It is not necessary for you to write the actual story, but you may certainly do so if you desire; but be aware that the story is subject to editing. If the article is intended for the Lifestyles pages, please write "Lifestyles Pages" on the material envelope.

Items may be mailed, faxed or brought in person to the News. Please be sure to include a name and telephone number in case more information is needed.
