Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2800 Turner, will hold Lenten services each Wednesday at 7 p.m. Maundy Thursday, April 13 and Good Friday, April 14 will begin at 7 p.m. and Easter Sunday, April 16, services will be at 11 a.m.
Friendship Feast Fundraiser
The First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Fifth Street and Cleveland, will host The Friendship Feast Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser on April 21, 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children ages four-12. Ages three and under eat free. Carry out will be available. Proceeds support the ministry in purchasing food and utensils.
Tickets for the fundraiser can be purchased at the door on the evening of the meal.
Powerhouse of Faith Christian Center, 114 North Oak, is taking orders for the April food distribution. The menu is available at www.kingfoods.org. Onsite orders can be placed April 8 10 a.m. until noon. Online orders can be placed until April 12. Orders will be distributed on April 22. Pastor Michael Cephus of Sweethome Baptist Church in Fairfax will speak. On April 20 at 7 p.m. Dr. Edwin House of Lighthouse Ministry of Crescent will speak. On April 21, Bishop Clyde Cook of Set Free Ministries, Oklahoma City will speak. On April 22 the church will host a Barbecue event at Fifth Street Park from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
First Baptist Church, 218 South Sixth Street, will host an Easter Musical on April 7 and April 9 at 7 p.m. “Come to Jesus Week” is set for April 10-15 Monday thru Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Assembly Center. Dr. Chance Dilbeck will speak Monday; Dr. Michael Taylor will speak Tuesday and Dennis Taylor will speak on Thursday. on Friday the Lord’s Supper will be at 6:30 p.m. in the Chapel. On Saturday a prayer service will held at 7:30 p.m. in the worship center. Easter Service will start at 9:30 a.m.
Ash Wednesday Services
Albright United Methodist Church, 128 South Palm, will celebrate Palm Sunday on April 9. The waving of the Palm Branches will be observed which marks the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. The palm branches used are burned and the ashes used at the Ash Wednesday Service.
The bell choir under the direction of Pat Purkey will perform. On April 13 at 6:30 p.m. the church will host a Maundy Thursday morning service which is a cooperative event with other United Methodist Churches. Rev. Cindy Robertson Riedel of St. Paul’s UMC will deliver a message. Communion will be served as part of the service. On April 14 at 6:30 p.m. a Good Friday Service will be held.
Easter services are scheduled at Grace Episcopal Church, 109 North 13th Street, beginning April 9. At 8 a.m. Passion Sunday Mass will be held. At 9:30 a.m. Liturgy of the Palms will be held and include a donkey in the Palm Procession.
Holy Week services will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday; 12:15 p.m. Tuesday; 6 p.m. Wednesday. Maundy Thursday Service will be at 7 p.m. Good Friday service will be at 7 p.m.
The Corporate fast and prayer will be April 14 at 8 a.m. Good Friday Service will be at 6 p.m. The Great Vigil of Easter will be April 15 at 6 p.m. and Easter Sunday service of resurrection will be at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m.
Sunset Baptist Church, 915 Greenwood, will hold an Easter Egg Hunt on April 15 at 1 p.m.
On April 16 a fundraiser for the church will be held at Papa Murphy’s from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. On April 27 a fundraiser for the church will be held at Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburger from 5-7 p.m. Proceeds will benefit Children’s Outreach.
Trinity Baptist Church, 1301 South A Street, Arkansas City, Kan. will host the “Haskell Cooley Family” on Sunday, April 9 at 10:45 a.m. The Haskell Cooley Family present a gospel music program called “A Time For Refreshing.”
St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 1904 North Pecan, will hold Maundy Thursday Service on April 13 at 6 p.m. at Albright United Methodist Church, 128 South Palm. Good Friday Tenebrae Service will be at 7 p.m. in the north sanctuary.
