Police Nab 2 Suspects In Stabbing

A 39-year-old man is hospitalized after being sliced repeatedly with a boxblade during an assault by two other men when a domestic argument turned violent early Sunday morning, according to the Ponca City police department.

The Ponca City Communications Center received a 911 call at 3:32 a.m. from a woman in the 300 block of South Oak Street that a domestic argument was in progress.

According to Capt. Duaine Vincent, of the Ponca City Police Department, officers reported that yelling and screaming could be heard coming from an alleyway when they arrived at the location. They found one of the assailants, a 41-year-old man, standing in the alleyway holding a jack handle in his hand, and the victim bleeding from his chest and back. The other assailant was standing close by.

Police quickly apprehended the two suspects until details could be “sorted out,” and requested an ambulance to the scene.

After further investigation, police learned that the assault ensued after a domestic argument broke out into a fight over one of the assailant’s girlfriend. The two men reportedly cut the victim repeatedly with the boxblade, then when the man fled, one of the assailants went to his car to retrieve the jack handle, before pursuing the victim. That was when police arrived.

The two assailants were later arrested for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to commit murder and the alley was set up as a crime scene.

The victim is currently listed in good condition at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.

The case is still under investigation.
