Church Briefs 2017-03-17


Speaker For Faith Ministries

Wendy Terrazas, Adult Basic Education and General Education Diploma Coordinator for Pioneer Technology will speak to the Kay County Detention Center Faith Ministries on March 21 at 6 p.m. at Perkins Restaurant, 2125 North 14th Street.

Terrazas is considered an integral part of the jail’s program to provide GED training for inmates who have not achieved a high school diploma.


Fish Fry Fundraiser

The Knights of Columbus Annual Fish Fry is set for March 17 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Third and Bridge in Blackwell beginning at 5 p.m. Adult tickets are $10 and 12 and under is $5. Proceeds benefit scholarships and youth church camp.


Bunco Night


A Bunco Night fund raiser benefiting YoungLives will be held on Tuesday, March 28 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Eastern Heights Christian Church, 5100 Lake Road. Tickets are $20.

For those who do not know how to play. Game instructions will be provided. YoungLives is a local ministry of the YoungLife non-profit organization focused on teen moms and their babies.

Proceeds will assist with the cost of teen mothers and their babies to attend summer camp. A limited number of tickets will be available to purchase through YoungLives Advisory Committee members or by contacting YoungLives at


Easter Services

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2800 Turner, will hold Lenten services each Wednesday at 7 p.m. Maundy Thursday, April 13 and Good Friday, April 14 will begin at 7 p.m. and Easter Sunday, April 16, services will be at 11 a.m.
