Body

Sherrie Ann (Bathurst) Ishmael passed away April 25th, 2024. She was 72.

Sherrie Ann Bathurst was born November 7th, 1951, in Cherokee, Oklahoma, to Elmore and Charlene Bathurst.

She grew up in Blackwell and attended school at NOC and OSU. She had worked for various offices in a financial assistant capacity but in 2005 returned to work at OSU, first in the Nutrition Department and then in the Engineering Department. After retirement she and her husband, Rex, moved back to Colorado to be near the grand kids.

In the summer of 2019, Sherrie was diagnosed with sarcoma after finding an invasive tumor in the muscles of her right leg. It came back four times taking greater and greater tolls.

Sherrie is preceded in death by the mother Charlene, sister Elaine and father Elmore.

She is survived by her husband Rex Ishmael, of 51 years, her daughter Amy, son in law Sean, their two children Ethan and Luke, her son Ryan and his son Jenson, and her brother Dan Bathurst, of Blackwell, Oklahoma.

Sherrie’s final wishes were that her body be donated to UC Health Sarcoma Research since her form of cancer was rare and invasive. Her hope was they could study it to help others, especially since she had so many occurrences. The family requests donations be made to the Sarcoma Research Fund at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.
